Well, I have a turntable with preamp to go straight into the sound input of my older Mac (G4 MDD, the last one to be able to boot in OS9, though it doesn't want to do that any more - but I can still run Classic).
I record into Amadeus, save into aif, then I start editing. Soundsoap if I want noise reduction, selective amplification in Amadeus if I think I need it, then split into tracks with fade ins and outs, and into Toast and onto a CD. Nothing complex.
I thought I was preset at 44.1 sampling, and it's worked for a good while with no problems, but somehow something got changed. I find that computers do tend to change things all on their own.
I think it's time to read the Amadeus documentation a bit more.
Thank you again for nailing my problem.
