I have some 24 bit recordings, and I would like to save them as 16 bit AIFF files. However, when I go to > Save As > AIFF, in the 'Settings' it only allows you to resample say from 48000 Hz to 41000 Hz. It does not allow you to change the bit rate.
Currently I have to open the file in Quicktime, then export in order to change the bit rate of my AIFF files.
Is there a way to do this? Or is this an official feature request?
Thanks!

Changing AIFF bit rate
You can change both bit depth and sampling rate in the sound -->
characteristics menu.
Did you remember to allow resampling in the file --> save as -->settings
menu? If you don't check resample, you can't choose anything else (as
one would expect).
