use of USB switches for recording etc

Post by ioannis »

.
I'd like to use a USB pedal to start/pause/stop recording, seems more effective/convenient for my work.

Is there a way to assign the mouse-clicks, on the recording panel buttons, to a USB-pedal?
(I might have done it via the system keyboard shortcuts, if there was a menu-command related to the mouse-clicks, but I don't see any such thing now.)

Any ideas?

thanks!

Is there any separate setup dialog for the device itself?  With trackpads or tablets, you can set up certain zones to generate keyboard equivalents, for example.  I'd suspect it's a two-step dance - first setting up the pedal to generate specific actions at the OS level, then linking those actions to Amadeus.

I have a friend who used an Apple TV controller with something called Remote Buddy to wirelessly control their computer from inside their booth.

Hi, the space bar allows to start / pause the recording, hitting return stops it and opens the sound in a new window. There's probably a setup dialog for the USB pedal allowing to map it to these keyboard shortcuts. Regards,

Martin

Thanks to both of you for the input.

@Martin,
I knew of the space-bar function, but when recording in awkward places it's sometimes troublesome reaching out to the keyboard. A simple solution indeed, assigning via a third app. Thanks!

@Jim,
I've seen this "Remote Buddy" app once, but my mind didn't go to it. This should work fine too, without the pedal. Thanks!
