Giving a recording more 'space'

Post by trevreav »

It's a difficult one to explain, but let's try.

I record rehearsals for a band I'm in on a Tascam portable recorder and the recordings are very good indeed - very clear and as we're a 3 piece you can hear all instruments and vocals well in the mix.

The only problem I have is that the field of sound is quite narrow and I was wondering if there was any quick fix to give the recordings a 'brightness and space' about them.

A bit like listening to a mono track and then switching to stereo, the sound 'widens' around you. I've fiddled with eq settings which sort of does the job, but just curious if there was anything else to be done.

Many thanks in advance

Hi Martin - thanks for the reply.

Just giving it a cursory glance, it sounds like just what I'm after.
Many thanks

Martin, the way I receive your mails on this list

Hi Martin,

I find the messages on this list very interesting, however I have
difficulties to read your mails. They come to my mail program as attached
files, most of them appear with the same name so when I want to read one of
them, the system asks me to overwrite the previous file.

Is there any way that you can write your messages on the body of the mail
instead of attaching your responses?

Thank you very much for your attention.

Best wishes,

Teresa
