File Limit 2GB

Post by wahol »

Hi,

what is the reason recordings are splitted into 2GB slices? I need one file, not parts of it. 2GB is a Windows FAT limit afaic, not a Mac OS one.

2GB is a limit of the WAVE and AIFF file formats. If you use CAF for example, you can have files of arbitrary length. Regards,

Martin

As Martin says, it's a file type limitation (one that comes from both WAVE and AIFF being based on RIFF ...)

However, before choosing to save a recording as CAF in Amadeus Pro, only do so if you're dealing with 16-bit recordings.

Amadeus saves 24-bit recordings as 16-bit when you choose CAF, even when explicitly choosing 24-bit ... you won't know this until later when you open up the file!

You are right, there’s a bug there, thanks for spotting it! It turns out that it actually *saves* them allright, but then opens them as 16-bit files… The version at <http://www.hairersoft.com/Downloads/AmadeusPro.zip> should fix this problem.
