Hello Martin, I have an iMac 27 3.4 gHz, core i7, System 10.8.3
I cannot anymore play or record files. The "play" button turns into red but nothing happens, as the program is waiting for something.
The application is also become unstable, and after some attempt to do something, it freezes.
I don't know if this can help you to fix this issue, but I have the feeling that everything started after I switched between different output devices in sound control panel (I have a protools firewire interface).. otherwise I don't know, all the other programs work fine.
hope to get a solution!
Paolo

Have you tried trashing the preferences file? It is a file called com.HairerSoft.AmadeusPro.plist in ~/Library/Preferences. Regards,
Martin

The main advantage of Audacity is that it is free. However, its user interface is rather clunky, which is a hardly avoidable consequence of the fact that Audacity is cross-platform (it also exists for Windows and Linux). In terms of features, Audacity is very similar to Sound Studio, so the same comments apply. It does however add real multitrack editing to its features mix.
