Recording to two different channels

Post by bradenchase »

Hello,

I'm trying to record some simple podcasts using AmadeusPro but I need to have two mics record to two different channels in the same stereo file. So, one voice per channel. There's only two people in the podcast.

How do I do this? I can only see the option for one input per sound file. I'm guessing it's pretty simple, but I just can't get it to work. I got it to work in Garageband by balancing one mic/voice to the left and the other to the right but I can't find a way to select different inputs per track with Amadeus.

Thanks for the Help!
Braden

Hi Braden,

as you say: For sure it's simple. Open a new recordwindow. In the source-pane you choose your input device. Go to advanced settings. There you can can choose the input for every channel.

Afterwards you get a "stereo" file. Do a right click on the grey area on head of the curves. Choose divide track into channels and then set every channel to front. Voila: you have two separated channels in mono.

Regards Jan

Recording to two different channels

Hello Braden

Is it possible to mix the two mics to left and right in a hardware mixer and send that mix to the input? In AmadeusPro you would have one stereo track with seperate left and a right voices.

Hi Braden, could you describe your precise setup (what sound input device(s) is / are attached to the computer, where do the microphones fit in, etc)? Without this information, we're pretty much taking shots in the dark… Thanks,

Martin
