intro and a question

Post by CDJonah_alt »

I can't give you a good answer except to say that if I put 01 at the
start of the first marker (or at the end of the first marker) it just
works. If I put in the first marker 01 george and then the next marker
default will be 02 george. It does it if I use command-click, click in
the marker bar or use option-m. You do have to put the number into the
first one.

I read in the docs that if you put let's say 01 in the first track it will increment the numbers. I tried that and it failed under windows, markers. I'm trying to number tracks along with there titles and I can't do that easily. I've resorted to editing the cue sheet file but that's going to take a while. How do I do this under window markers keeping the title in tact with out doing each individual one? Even modifying all markers at once causes that to fail. it goes up but the titles disappear. when I check the window markers thing.

Thanks.

Oh and I'm blind and use voice over which comes with os10 by default and I'm using the latest version of amadeus pro.

Thanks.

Have you tried using Selection -> Modify markers ?
Make sure that the "change name" checkbox is checked.

Sarah,

If your xact program will add the numbers, that would clearly be the
easiest route as asking AP to do it is really asking the wrong program
-- AP should read in what is in the cue file and go with that. There
also may well be a xml program reader to modify the fields as cue files
appear to be standard xml files. Also, I am not quite sure why you need
the numbers in the title.

It isn't too easy, for me at least, to figure out what is happening in
your recording. (as I am sure it is not too easy for you to understand
what a sighted person is saying.) I don't know what steps were dead
ends, what were errors, etc.

I checked with another program called xact and it uses the form of %number% %title% to auto name. here is an excerpt from a queue sheet.

TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "KV 243 Litaniae de venerabili altaris sacramento - 1776 - 01 - Kyrie eleison"

the amadeus took only the title the xact program I use took the 01 and the title. Is there a way for amadeus to do this?

Im' not getting any errors but the title is definitly beeing killed when I modify the markers like that.
This is correct behaviour, since this is basically what you are telling
Amadeus Pro to do when you just enter "01 " in that field. As Charles
was saying, the quickest way is to export the markers a cue file, modify
that file with a text editor, and then reimport it. With TextWrangler, you can
automate what you want by searching for

([0-9]*) AUDIO(\s*)TITLE \"(.*)\"

and replacing it with

\1 AUDIO\2TITLE "\1 \3"

Make sure that "Grep" is enabled in the search window.

Unfortunately Text rangler is inaccessible for the VO user. . I've tried it before, and Voiceover doesn't read text in files at all with it. A friend of mine was going to use it to code for websites, and she found it inaccessible.
It should work with any text editor that supports regular expressions for find / replace
operations. Another such editor is TeXShop (it really isn't designed to be a regular
text editor but should work fine). Regards,

Martin

Sarah,

This has little or nothing to do with your problem, but when I put
markers in a file, which I have done several times recently in that I
have been tracking recordings of funerals, I would click on the spot
where I wanted the marker and I would put in 01 and the marker name in
the window. When I put the next marker in, it will give me as a
default 02 and the same marker name so it would automatically do as you
want (or actually it will work just as well with default followed by the
number). It is not working from a CUE file.

Ok I did some more thinking. I know some of you got the numbering to work but when I go to window, marker and hit enter on the name of the marker and unselect the title and put 01 followed by a space and enter it won't put a 02 followed by space on the next marker down. Maybe instead of reading it from the queue file can there be something in the marker window that says "auto number button" and it asks what marker you want to start at or what not and it will do all the work for you so you can split. I can see this actually not just with queue sheets but with files you have to let's say mark for lessons. that way you don't do it yourself so it comes out like

01 lesson
02 lesson

03 lesson and so on.

Make sure that the file is a valid CUE file

Well it is as it ends in cue and i looked at int in text edit and it looks correct.
Unless there is a bug, it probably isn't... If you post it here I can tell
you what the problem is. Regards,

Martin

Sarah,

When recording you might try this.
1 Do a record to a new file
2 enter lower-case m -- you will get a dialog box -- enter 00
followed by a blank and then title and then return
3 hit the space bar and the recording will really start
4 hit a tab at every place you want a mark
Done
What I ended up with is no marker at the beginning and markers where I
hit the tabs with 01 title, 02 title (and presumably further but I that
is as far as I went with the test.)

(I just tried this as these days I don't record on the computer but use
a small digital recorder. I used to enter markers while recording in
the old days when I would transfer files to the computer using the
digital output of a minidisc recorder but that used Amadeus II.)

OH no I did it from the markers window. but I actually mark wiht the p key and modify later as most of the time I'm doing stuff live and don't have time to number. and option m for me does not work or shal I say will not work as i have to aline both heads and hitting p is quicker. Hmm I'll keep playing with it. maybe it's me who's messing up lol!
