Comparing Loudness Between Two Different Open Files?
The vertical axis on the waveform chart is not labeled to show number of db. If I have two different sound files open in Amadeus Pro, is a waveform of one height in the first file, equally as loud as a waveform of the identical height, in the other file?
Thanks very much in advance for the info.

The scale is not dB but is linear signal -- yes, the scales are the same
(unless you increased the size of one of them). Of course, you just
need to select a section of each and do "wavestats" and you have both
signal (max 1 min -1) and dB

As Chuck mentioned, the scales are indeed the same, unless you
changed that. However, the perceived "loudness" of a signal depends
on many things, so two different signals that appear to have the same
"height" on the screen will probably not appear to have exactly the
same loudness. The "average RMS power" from the waveform stats
will give you better idea, but even this does not take into account the
fact that the human ear perceives different frequencies in different ways.

I will tack onto Martin's comments. You can experimentally see this
using AP. Create a sound about 20 seconds long where the first 5
seconds are sine, the second square wave, triangle wave and sawtooth at
about 400 hz. Play it. You can then do statistics on them and you will
find that all have the same maximum value; the sawtooth and triangular
wave will have the same rms value but the apparent level is considerably
different.

Amadeus 1.5.3
I can confirm the horizontal zoom does not work on 1.5.3 on a G4 with
10.4.11. If I click on the slider, I can get the position of the slider
to move (I can't move it by grabbing it) however, that is useless as the
thing doesn't zoom.
I just downloaded the1.5.3 and installed it today. I do have 1.5.2
still sitting on my machine so there is no real problem.
