5.1 surround encoding

Post by Stefano Fonzarelli »

I would like to save a project as a multitrack WAV or AIFF file for use as a complete surroundfile to use for authoring on DVD and DVD-A.

Before I waste time and discs testing what is what, could anyone tell me if this is possible and what track-order to use?

L R C Ls Rs Lfe
or
L C R Ls Rs Lfe
or
... ?

Hi,

standard ITU channel configuration is

L R C LFE LS RS

If you save Amadeus files as Wav they will contain info on what channel goes where (could be confirmed using e.g. AudioEase Snapper). If you save as AIFF, the information seems to be lost, but I would still expect the files to work properly in e.g. Logic.

Best,
Trond

You're welcome. If you save as Wav, just make sure that you lapel each of the tracks properly in Amadeus: Front, Back, etc. if they are grouped into three pairs of stereo files, of Front Left, Front Right, etc. if they are set us as six mono tracks.
