Can't launch Amadeus Pro if DVCPROHDAudio.plugin is present

Post by Guntis »

I recently ran into problem, I couldn't launch Amadeus Pro. Tried to remove plugins until I found that the cause of this problem is DVCPROHDAudio.plugin (v.1.3.2, made by Apple, Inc. 2004-2009, Universal binary). As soon as I removed it I could launch Amadeus Pro. Is there some incompatibility or what?
PC is consumer stuff for me. Like a coffee machine - it does it’s job. But Mac - Mac is love, it’s like a Porsche - style, design and feeling of well spent money.

Yes, this plug-in (which is installed by Final Cut) seems to be buggy. Unfortunately, when I
install it on my machines, it still runs fine. My impression was that it stalls only when some
specific devices (FireWire?) are connected to the computer, so I haven't been able to completely
determine what is going on. However, from the reports I received, it seems clear that this plug-in
provides a driver which, under some circumstances, gets stuck in an infinite loop when it is
initialised. This then in turn prevents Amadeus Pro from launching properly.

I have no idea why Amadeus Pro is affected and not every other audio application. But it seems
clear that Amadeus Pro is not the only one:

I hope that Apple will fix this soon. Maybe they have already fixed it with the most recent versions
of Final Cut and you still have an older version installed? Regards,

Martin

OK, I tried to defer the call to the faulty function to a later stage, maybe this helps.... Could you
please try to run the version at <http://www.hairersoft.com/Downloads/AmadeusPro.zip> with
DVCPROHDAudio.plugin present and see if this still freezes? If yes, could you please run the
Activity Monitor, select Amadeus Pro, hit "Sample Process" and send me the report that it will
generate? Thanks,

Martin

Hi,
I downloaded new version of Amadeus Pro, installed it. Placed plugin back in the HAL folder, launched Amadeus Pro, everything's fine now. Here's process' sample:
