Gaps in converted MP3 files

Post by ezlxq1949 »

Amadeus 1.4.3 is exhibiting new behaviour: when I use it to convert an MP3 file to AIFF (or WAVE), it randomly sets the output amplitude to zero for short periods of time, typically .010 or .024 sec. In other words, the converted file has short gaps in it.

The total duration of the converted file is the same as the input, so nothing is being lost that way.

If I convert the same file using Audacity or Sound Converter, everything is OK.

Has anybody else noticed this, and if so, is there a way to fix it?

Gaps in converted MP3 files

Post by Martin Hairer »

Hi, could you send me one of the Mp3 files that show this behaviour?
My guess is that they are somehow corrupted and that mpg123 (the Mp3
decoder) chokes on them. Regards,

Martin

Thanks for the offer of help, Martin.

Murphy's Law applies again: I threw away all the MP3 files provoking the drop-outs (they weren't important), and they never got backed up.

If I encounter any more, I'll let you know.
