Dividing a track

Post by Brian »

I know this was just addressed about splitting a track into multiple pieces using the markers....being new to this, tell me how this is accomplished, please. I know how to create a marker (start & end),now, how do I "lift" the marked points?? Also....say I want 2 seconds of silence between two files on the same timeline...when I paste a selection, it always wants to "butt" it up against the other file instead of giving me space between files...

To get silence between two tracks, just use insert silence to give you 2
seconds of silence.

I have no ide idea what you mean by "lifting marked points". You can
select between markers.

Dividing a track

Also, have you read through the manual? It explains most of the basic
manipulations in a (hopefully) reasonably clear and concise way...

Manual Link in FAQ

Martin, the link to the manual in your FAQ doesn't point
to anything. The PDF from Amadeus Pro's Help menu works.

Dividing Tracks

Well..I read the manual on splitting tracks and it's not a very good explanation. After I select "Split according to Markers", nothing happens except to save to a folder....then what???? If I open that saved folder, it opens in a window of it's own!
I want to be able to cut a track wherever I want...not just at a point of silence....maybe this program can't do this.....

Brian, Amadeus has been permitting "manual" markers for
ages. I do manual all the time because I'm a control freak.

Besides, a lot of "classical" stuff has moments of silence that
I hardly ever want to break on.

Position the cursor in the light gray band above the darker gray
band (with track name, volume, playback, etc). Click it. A marker
will appear. You can move the marker or delete it or rename it.
Once you select sound/split acccording to markers, Amadeus will
save the "split" file into a folder of tracks named according to the
marker names in an audio format you like.

Try it.

OK...I tried that and it worked...I'm used to cutting up the track into pieces and being able to move it anywhere I want....I guess I can't cut a portion of a track then move it around without saving it,right??? Also, say I want to place a portion of another song at the end of a different timeline....would I bring up both timelines, then cut & paste???

Good idea.
One of my favourites is copy or cut a part and then "Paste to new track" The new part can be moved anywhere in the timeline. I also like to use lots of markers as temporary guidelines.
