Time-stretching with precision

Post by Tristan »

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a method for precise time-stretching.

Often I need to edit loops to last a certain number of milliseconds. Problem is, "Change Pitch and Speed" under Amadeus Pro's Effects menu works in increments. You can type in a target length, but the actual length that results from the operation will not be what you requested. It's close but not exact.

Might this be fixable, Martin?

Meanwhile, I'd be grateful if anyone has a suggestion for a workaround.

Cheers,

Tristan

For version 1.3, I plan to replace the "SoundTouch" algorithm which
Amadeus Pro is using at the moment by the one that Apple integrated
into MacOS X. I have done some testing and it seems to give
consistently better results. It is likely that this would also fixe
the problem that you encountered. Cheers,

Thanks, Martin. That's good news; I hope Apple's algorithm does the trick!

In the meantime, anyone know of an Intel-compatible audio unit that lets you time stretch to a given duration?

Logic Pro.

Amazing Slow Downer.

Time-stretching with precision

Hi Tristan, the version at <http://www.hairersoft.com/Downloads/AmadeusPro.zip
now implements Apple's time-stretching algorithm. It is slower than
SoundTouch, but the gain in quality more than makes up for it in my
opinion ;-) It is also now extremely precise as far as the length of
the resulting sound is concerned. Regards,

Martin
