Recording misses a bunch of the source

I hadn't realized I can export from Audacity in AIFF format, and Amadeus opens that just fine, so at least I can use AP for editing.

On recordings I've made recently (putting LPs and cassettes onto CD), I'm finding that AP1.5 keeps dropping out bits of the source - the end result is that it sounds like an LP that keeps skipping randomly, sometimes just once in a song, sometimes every few seconds. I'm getting situations when AmadeusPro (1.5, recently updated) won't respond - it won't quit even when I force quit, and my only option seems to be an emergency manual shutdown. Thank you, rfwilmut. yes, Amadeus Pro. I think that's what it was, and I must have hit that menu item somewhere along the line, or the keyboard short cut if there is one. - but I hadn't realized till the end of the recording that I'd recorded the whole thing in mono. Inadvertently recording stereo as mono

I have only just started using Amadeus; apologies for stupid newbie questions.

I just recorded a stereo CD and when I stopped and opened the Amadeus file, all I had was a mono track. Could I have inadvertently changed some setting on record? What might have led to this?
