You need two things: 1) A pair of speakers you can trust 2) A pair of ears you can trust If you got that, you could be mastering your stereo mixdown files even using the default GarageBand instalation – although it may get a bit awkward at times. :) Other than that, here is probably the best place t...

Re: Hearing frequencies
the IM frequency (30 khz or so) Actually, the hearable frequency is 15625 Hz (PAL) and 15734 Hz (NTCS) respectively. --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathode_ray_tube#High-frequency_audible_noise It used to annoy me as well, but eventually it "magically" disappeared some time in my early ...

Re: Hearing frequencies
At around 17,700 hz (standard sine wave) I couldn't hear anymore. If you're under 25 years old, that's still an expected value. If you're over 30, for some it's maybe still possible, but less likely. If you're over 40, most people don't hear anything over 15 kHz. And from then on it goes downhill r...

Re: Dragging Songs Directly from iTunes into Amadeus Pro
Apple keep on changing the way the dragged tracks are represented But why did it stop working while actually nothing has changed on my working system? (Leopard 10.5.8, iTunes 9, AP 1.5.5 and several other similar apps like MediaRage, Fission, WaveEditor, etc.) All that I've ever installed on Leopar...

Re: Dragging Songs Directly from iTunes into Amadeus Pro
Did anyone notice besides me? I did notice few months ago that it's not possible to open iTunes tracks by dragging the proxy to any dock icons of audio apps. (Not only to AP.) I don't know what it caused, because it started somewhat suddenly while I was still using iTunes 9 on AP 1.5.5 on Leopard, ...

I didn't read it all yet (it's also very technical for me to understand it all), but one note nonetheless, just for the record: Markers and Gaps […] Just few weeks ago I had a discussion with a renowned mastering engineer - owner of http://mastering-media.blogspot.com/ - regading pregaps on a compil...

Re: Conclusion: archiving format
I was using data DVD's but began to have worries about longevity According to a test I've once read on the renowned www.heise.de the Verbatim Archival Grade DVD-R are supposed to last for decades . When bought in larger quantities, they aren't even much more expensive than regular brand DVD-R, and ...

Re: Help!
What would you recommend me to use in order to increase the sound volume Only one thing: Turn up the volume of your playback device! No offense, but from what you're writing, you don't seem to know what you are doing at all. Thus, in order not to make your CD rips sound even worse, you better shoul...

Amadeus is probably the wrong tool for this job, because it will alter the audio destructively and (unless you're using lossless audio formats in iTunes) lossy. What you need is a tool that will change the gain value of a track losslessly - which is what Sound Check actually does. The only tool I kn...
