Re: Even i ver. 1.4.1 all of a sudden!

Hmm... I found a version 1.4.1 and installed that instead, as there were never any problems with that. Bu now there is! Same terrible noise! How come? Are there any preferences files that I should delete or what could it be? Have a whole bunch of files to edit in a hurry - hope anyone can help! Jus...

Re: No bass when recording

Hi all, hoping someone can help me as I'm having a nightmare trying to record a decent quality mix into Amadeus 2. My recording levels seem fine and everything looks good, however my mixes are sounding extremely tinny and have pretty much no bass at all. I have tried burning mixes to CD to listen o...

Re: Clicks, Pops, and noise

Many people recommended ClickRepair. I got the demo, and tried it. I spent probably 8 hours with it, on and off. I studied what there was to study, read the manual 3 times, and went to work. Indeed, it does a MUCH better job than SoundSoap. The interface is dreadful, however. It's bad enough that I...

Re: hard filter

Hi, How can I set a hard filter, e.g. cut off everything below 30 Hz? If I use the AU LowShelf with a gain of -40 dB @30Hz, also Frequencies above 30 Hz get reduced. Is there a way just to reduce frequencies bekow 30 Hz without touching the freqiuencies above? Cheers Babak In Amadeus II this is eas...

Re: Size tradeoffs

Recently, I bought a couple of audio book downloads from Audible and Barnes and Noble. Looking at the info in iTunes, it seems that both Audible and B&N achieve their compression not by cutting bit rate and cutting sampling speed. I was just wondering which tradeoff produces better quality? To ...

Thanks, Sonic. I may be missing something. The Griffin device is clearly putting a signal to the computer that is too strong. You have (I think) correctly identified one problem: the Griffin can't handle the input from the Kairn. Is it possible these are two separate issues? Right now the clipping ...

Re: Lead in time recording 0 gap CDRs

Does anyone know whether AP is automatically inserting the Orange book mandated 2 second lead-in at the beginning of disks it burns in 0 gap mode? If not, how can one insert it? It doesn't look like it can be done manually, since it's supposed to be 2 seconds of silent track 0, not track 1. It LOOK...

So...if the only option is an attenuator - where do I look for that? Would an alternative to the griffin give me a possibly lower input signal? Well... looks like you have a very high-end preamp feeding IMO a very low-end A/D device. From http://www.griffintechnology.com/articles/219-what-are-the-t...

Re: Burn to Audio CD... not burning properly

Since upgrading to version 1.4, when I burn a recorded vinyl record to CD via the Sound menu in Amadeus, the last track gets rendered as 6 seconds of silence. This has happened twice, so I don't think it's anything I'm doing 'wrong'. [...] Anyone else doing this and have experienced the same phenom...

Re: gapless CD burning problem from Amadeus Pro

I've been editing some large stereo files and creating markers for CD track points - when I burn from Amadeus (1.3.3) using CD gap 0 secs I still get a very small but noticeable 'hiccup' in the audio between tracks - I've confirmed this behaviour on several CD players. After spliting the file into ...

Unexpected CD Tracks

In the process of attempting to test index point support in Amadeus Pro 1.4 beta, i am working with CD writing from within AP for just about the first time, and getting highly unexpected results in terms of how the tracks on the CD are marked... at least to me. (The following discussion is all about...

Re: index points

How does this feature manifest itself at the playback level, on those devices enabled to interpret it? --Phil M. Do you mean index points? I'll assume so. Standard audio CD players, when they (wisely) implement index points, can do so in at least two levels. One is display only, the other is displa...

This site: http://www.fileinfo.net/extension/omf lists four programs which will open them - unfortunately all expensive. Since ProTools is listed, i'm thinking ProTools Free 5.0.1 for OS 9/PPC may very well be able to access those files. I have never tested this theory. It may be easier and less ex...

Re: vinyl quality!

To me it looks (and sounds) like he simply takes the originals, adds a bit of EQ, runs them all through a "brick" limiter and finally normalizes them to -0.1 dBFS. The result sounds "LOUD", definitely louder than the original, but it lacks any dynamics. Absolutely useless. [...]...

Re: inserting CD index flags within a song

The only product i know of that reliably does index points and works on a modern Mac OS is one of the more expensive iterations of BIAS Peak Wave Editor does any possible kinds of markers. It will also import Jam disk images. And it exports professional DDP files. While slightly pricier than Amadeu...
