To whom it may concern... If anyone ever has a similar problem, I finally got a weird workaround. It makes me wonder why nobody ever tried to provide a "standalone" plug-in to do exactly this, because it happens to work pretty good. I'm using "Soundhack +compand" with obvi...

Re: Advice needed: repairing auto-gain volume jumps

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression Thanks, I knew that (and similar overviews). The "Soundhack +compand" filter certainly has the advantage to label the "ratio" dial correctly. I did a search on the other filters before but couldn't find anything useful... I ...

Re: Advice needed: repairing auto-gain volume jumps

I have no experience with this problem but what you want is the opposite of Compression: Expansion. Try to recreate the settings of the compressor in reverse It's a bit point of view actually... if you consider the loud parts to be "correct" then it is expansion, but if you consider the l...

Advice needed: repairing auto-gain volume jumps

Hi, I'm aware that this is not a specific AP question, but this is a very nice community so I thought it's worth to just ask... I need to (roughly) "repair" a couple of long tracks with "jumping" volume/gain levels - a bit like old analogue recordings with auto-gain contro...

Aaaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhh !!!!! I have absolutely no idea why I didn't try this, or - to be more specific - why it didn't work when I did (once)... Of course I read "TFM" and tried all kinds of spots-to-drag in any possible combination with keys but somehow failed to realize this. Apologi...

Re: Feature Request: Drag (shift) a track "in the middl

Wow, that pencil and paper trick is great. As you say, very analogue. Would this help, I wonder? Copy the bit you want to move to a new track in the document. It'll be small enough for you to see it and grab it by its drag-able end to where you want. I thought about this of course, and occasionally...

(Solved): Drag (shift) a track in the middle

Another feature request... unless it's already built-in, but I can't find it :? I often use AP to repair analogue transfers and I often have multiple sources. For example, two copies of a vinyl album with different crackles/distortions. In theory this is straightforward: Just load both tracks into a...

Bug Report: Weird problem with saving Apple Lossless files

There is a very strange thing happening with AmadeusPro 1.4.5 (688). To quote George Orwell: "All AppleLossless files are equal, but some are more equal than others..." This is what I do: I open various sound files from various formats, do a little editing in AmadeusPro and then sa...

Re: Trim Silence

Trim Silence is a very useful feature to me, but is it only available in the batch utility? At the moment, yes indeed... Regards, And it would be a very, very , VERY good thing to have this as a menu command as well - it is very annoying to open a file and detect a "silent tail" only to r...

Wow MartinC you really know this product!! Does iVolume have a forum? I don't think there's a forum, but it's not difficult to use. Just play around with it, and you'll find out - it is easy (you can create groups on the left, apply different settings and then just drag your files into it). You can...

Yes, this looks like what I want. But going over the FAQs and Help I didn't see anything about reversing the process - for whatever reason. Well... as a matter of fact you can't "reverse" it indeed, but this is not really a disadvantage. You need to understand what "Sound Check"...

Does it permanently modify the iTunes file? Yes and No... it does not modify the sound data, but it re-writes the "Sound Check" tag value. Or - to put it more simple: It does *exactly* what the iTunes Sound Check feature does, but it simply calculates a much more usable value. Does it wor...

[REQ] ReplayGain support, one way or another...

Hello, I recently bought iVolume that adjusts the "sound check" value of iTunes files using an algorithm called "replay gain". This way the volume (loudness) gets judged like it appears to the human ear and you hardly ever need to correct it manually during any playlist. It is gr...

You can use iVolume for that job: http://www.mani.de/ivolume/index.html It works on your current iTunes library and just sets the "Sound Check" value to something better, using the so called "replay gain" algorithm. It works like a charm. You can also modify the behaviour, for ex...
