Re: Can't control input level
Like you I'm surprised that devices which allegedly operate at line level have no headroom. My phono stage (pre-amp) is the highly-regarded Graham Slee Jazz Club. I'm not about to abandon it for a cheap pre-amp! Ah… i looked it up… nice. And not at all a standard preamp with a standard output (it r...

Re: Can't control input level
But what about the M-Audio Control panel? If the signal is already too hot at the interface input, the control panel won't help either. The OP indicated he needed only one or two dB lower. It would amaze me if the standard -10 dBV average output level of a standard phono preamp was too hot for the ...

Re: Can't control input level
Problem: Amadeus is unable to alter the input level. From M-Audio's web site I read: Q: On my Mac running OS X, it displays "The selected device has no output controls" when I select my M-Audio device for output from System Preferences>Sound; is this normal? A: Yes. M-Audio devices bypass...

Re: Problems with Static
I am recording vinyl from an ion turn table through a usb connection to an iMac. I will suddenly get a burst of static that does not go away. The only way to remove the static is to quit the program and restart it. The turntable power cord has only two prongs, the iMac has three. I have protected t...

Re: Smaller file size for email
Being new to the world of audio files, I do not know how to make a file size smaller without compressing it. That would be because it is not possible. Read on for options. I wish to email what is currently a 9MB file (voice only recording of approximately 10 minutes), but it has been rejected by th...

Re: Amadeus II + M-Audio mic driver = Mac bomb/crash
Since the bomb occurs only on the G5, is the problem related to peripherals (Wacom tablet, etc)? Any ideas on how to get it to work? OS X i assume (since you write of Amadeus Pro)? I'd want to at least try this in a clean testing account, and very likely from an alternative startup volume with no 3...

Re: Envelope gain?
I have a show I taped where the level was far too low in the first minute. I corrected levels on the recorder as quickly as I could, but I now have a section which needs gain applied in a non-smooth manner over a period of ~40 seconds. It looks like the envelope function can only reduce gain. True?...

I suspect automatic processing will have undesired results of amplifying undesired quite background noise. Difficult to distinguish between quite voices that I want amplified and other quite noise that I do not. But this is a common tasks with many sections to amplify and too time consuming to do b...

As for whether the silence should be at the end of one track or at the start of the next, I'm not really sure but I think normally when you hit the CD button that goes to the next track, you go to the gap between the tracks so that's why I was thinking of putting it at the start of each track. Here...

Flavio’s issue (was Re: [ANN] Amadeus Pro v1.3)
just to add that both files (AIFF and WAV) weights are 74.9 MB. Really big for an image, no? On 03/mag/08, at 23:04, Flavio Gori wrote: Sonic, many thanks. A couple of things I do not understand: how can I save as an image file a .wav one and, as an image file, how I can play the sound? Opening a d...

Re: [ANN] Amadeus Pro v1.3
It seems that way. I have trashed A2 and re-downloaded again but having the same result. in one more mail i attached the info Sonic asked (i think). flavio Yes, you did, and indeed it holds the key to the puzzle, repeated here: Type, Creator & Extension Creator: 'AMII' (hex 41 4D 49 49) Amadeus...

Re: [ANN] Amadeus Pro v1.3
Hi Gerard, though A2 can reproduce the sound, it can only save the files as a jpg, tiff, photoshop and the like. if i manually change to .aiff or .wav, Apro does not open anything. I have tried to import the raw data in Apro. It can import and display data but the file appear to be different than t...

Re: A Tip
Doesn't converting it to mono paste the two tracks together, each at a 50% ratio? That's what I had thought "convert to mono" does, as opposed to keeping the left channel while eliminating the right. That is my understanding as well. I have not noticed a decline in audio quality, but I am...
