Try doing a fourier analysis of your data where you aren't speaking. If
there appear to be sharp peaks, set up notch filters to eliminate those

Yes, you are right, but after selecting the region, go to the selection
menu and select to expand to nearest crossing and then do the replace.

silence the selection. If so, there is an option in selection to expand
to a crossing
