+1 This is awesome.
(I posted about this yesterday but my message wasn't approved yet; perhaps Martin has been too busy to do much moderating!)

Martin Hairer wins Fields medal
The Fields medal is like the Nobel prize, but harder to win. It is Very Serious Stuff. This is awesome. Congratulations to you, Martin. Oh, and thanks for doing Amadeus on the side. - matt

"change quality" ignored in batch actions
Convert a batch of files to AAC, applying an action which says to "change quality" to 24 bit, 22.050 Khz. The files resulting from the batch are 16 bit, 44.1 Khz. So the "change quality" action is being ignored.

join files sample rate
Why is there no option in the Join Files dialog to just leave the sample rate at whatever it happens to be in the files being joined? (Assuming they all have the same sample rate, of course...) This ought to be the simplest case. The sample rate I typically use isn't even listed. Of course I can typ...

Re: display bug when resampling
That's correct behaviour. The sound open in the document is still at 88.2kHz, it's just that the copy on disk is at 44.1kHz. Then perhaps this menu item should not be called "Save As", but rather "Export". "Save As" implies that after the action, the window portrays th...

display bug when resampling
Record an AIFF file as 24bit, 88.2kHz. Do a Save As, and as you do, ask for the AIFF to be resampled at 44.1. The window now shows the name of the new file, but the sample rate is still shown as 88.2 even though it is in fact now 44.1. [Edited:] OK, it's worse than I thought. After the Save As, the ...

looping
When I ask Amadeus to loop a sound as it plays, when it gets to the end of the file it jumps from the end to where the insertion point is, not from the end to the beginning. Is this a bug?

amadeus inserts silence at end when compressing
Start with an uncompressed AIFF where the sound goes right to the end (no silence at all at end). Open it with Amadeus and save as m4a (AAC). Now close the file and open the m4a. You will see a silence appended to the end of the file. Is this a bug or is it an inevitable consequence of the compressi...
