Doubled markers

In my old system (Amadeus 1.55, Mac OS 10.4.1), if I deleted the area between two markers, the upper marker remained, but the lower marker (which would now be at the same place) was deleted. I found this behavior very convenient. I have just upgraded to Amadeus 2, Mac OS 10.7.4. Now when I do the sa...

Well, Amadeus was doing things really slowly last night. Among the things I tried this morning was zapping the PRAM, and that (I think) seemed to do the trick. A system problem rather than an Amadeus problem. And it looks like everything is back to normal.

Unable to open aiff files

I have been making soundfiles of LPs. I just tried to open several files recorded recently on Amadeus 1.5.5, I get the message: This type of compressed aiff file is not supported by your system. I am using an older Mac: G4 MDD running OSX 10.4.11. I have not changed anything recently about the syste...

Well, I have a turntable with preamp to go straight into the sound input of my older Mac (G4 MDD, the last one to be able to boot in OS9, though it doesn't want to do that any more - but I can still run Classic). I record into Amadeus, save into aif, then I start editing. Soundsoap if I want noise r...

BRILLIANT!!! That's it. I have always saved straight into aif without thought, and it seemed the default was 44.1, but somehow that got changed. Now to save I have to go through the options box and check resample, at 44.1, because otherwise it gives me 22.050, which caused my problems. I don't even ...

Thanks Chuck. Sometimes I think this thing is in my head because I can't find anything wrong.

This one is a short file of 00'30". (I see 00'30"416).

Info says 2.6 MB (2,682,962 bytes)

The thing that's really strange to me is that the files play back correctly in Amadeus, it's only when I put them into Toast that they do the buzzy distortion thing (It actually sounds to me like a buzz superimposed on an original sound, rather than a distorted original, though the buzz is loud enou...

I did open a bad file in Audacity, exported as aiff, tried it in Toast and it was still bad. I'm now getting totally confused as I'm trying different things in the sound preferences and I'm not sure where I'm at. Now Audacity seems to be doing funny things. I haven't used it for so long I've forgott...

Uncompressed, 44.1 KHz

The same as I've used for a long time.

What I really don't understand is why this started happening now - AFAIK I have changed no settings at all, and everything was working just fine.

I _so_ prefer Amadeus to Audacity.

Nasty Buzz when burning CD in Toast

I'm recording LPs. The last couple I did, having split tracks, I tried to burn in Toast, but I get this really nasty buzz, in playback from Toast, and on the CD. The tracks play back clean when opened with Amadeus. The buzz seems to modulate with the strength of the audio signal. If I record in Auda...

Thanks for fixing this one, Martin. It was beginning to drive me nuts. But so far the fix seems to work! (I'm on an old PPC G4 with no good reason to upgrade :)

Cheers!

Recording misses a bunch of the source

Martin, your suggestion that the temp file location might be a problem with my setup (in response to my hangup problem detailed in another thread) seems to be the cause of this one as well. I just recorded a 72 minute cassette, the sound file is the right length, selected playback reveals no problem...

Martin had suggested in an email that problems with the disc I used for temporary files might have been causing the hangup problem. I had no idea what I was using for temps. I checked preferences and discovered it was an internal disc I had stopped using as I'd had problems with it in the past. I ch...
