Make vocal recording less "tinny" sounding

I have a couple of vocals that were recorded in a bedroom. They sound much brassier and tinnier than they did live. Is there a way to soften that tinny sound? To make it fuller, smoother? Sorry to be unclear. I'm selecting a section that has an artifact, then choosing Effects > Generate Silence. My only choices in the dialogue box are to generate silence of a specified length or to generation silence to fill the selection. I'm choosing the latter. Is there a better way? Also note tha...

I found out how to do this. Tracks>Merge all clips merges them without squooshing them.

BTW, where is the split clips icon that is shown on page 10 of the UG?

Generate silence leaves clicks

I have smart editing on, but when I fill a space in a track with silence (in this case to cover up a recorded artifact) I get clicks on either side of the silence.

Is there a way to do this so I don't get the clicks?
