So yes...please let do me me know if you'd like a link to hear me reading this up-to-date, yet authentic, translation of the dammapada...and i'll send it to you when it's published. It is a recent revision by James Low (my teacher) of his original translation, m...

How to equalise loudness across a number of voice recordings
Hi You helpful people gave great advice when i started archiving old cassetes of buddhist teachings...about ten years ago! I have just recorded a new translation of the Dhammapada (a major buddhist text) over a period of a couple of months. There are 26 files short (5mins or so) and i would like the...

Thank you all. An update incase anyone tries to do something similar. The final solution for me was to record directly into amadeus via a line into the macbook pro from my cd player, edit the talk, save as wave uncompressed 16 bit file, then use a dedicated sound restoration suite. The noise of the ...

Wow, that's a lot of trouble you've gone to,and i really appreciate it. Some of the info is way out of my league but luckily a kind singer/song writer has agreed to help improve on the quality of the recordings i make...so your information will be very helpful. I'm just not sure, after all that, whe...

Thanks for your interest Jan, I can see that recording directly into Amadeus saves one lot of compression loss. I have only a portable sony cd cassette recorder CFD-S27, i think i can use the headphone socket as a line out, not sure if that's good enough. I was wondering if maybe i should buy a tape...

Thanks Jan. Are you suggesting recording into Amadeus direct from the cassette player into a wav format ready for editing ? Then afterwards using their mp3 conversion to export to i tunes then onto the web. If so I've had a look at my cassette player and it doesn't have a line-out only a headphone j...

Hello again, I have been given an'ion'...it's a gadget to convert cassettes to mp3, it will put the converted files straight into the iTunes library. When i then edit them using Amadeus the format will be changed to amadeus and then i'll change it back again to mp3 for exporting to the web. This is ...

efficient deletions
Hi. I have the new task of working with hundreds of archived recordings of teachings,on tape and cd. In order to make them acceptable to the public -- as they are being made freely available on the website-- most of the work involves deletions of inappropriate material. I've discovered that clicking...
