Thanks for all the advice. I have a gen 3 Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, and when I use Apple's Audio Midi Setup I can, indeed, select 44.1 kHz sampling. It seems to change what Amadeus Pro presents to me in the advanced preferences for that sound source: now instead of multiples of 48 kHz, it presents mul...

Hi Jim, Thank you for your detailed reply; it seems to confirm pretty much what my understanding of the process is. To address one point that you brought up: I use the RMS normalization rather than the peak normalization because very often there is a pop or click in the source LP that ends up being ...

Recording LPs with greater bit depth and higher sample rate
Hi, I recently bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 A-to-D interface to hopefully improve my workflow when converting vinyl LP's to digital files. The new interface sports 24 bit recording, and sample rates up to 192kHz. The primary benefit I was looking for was to not have to fiddle so much to get recor...

I use Toast 8 (works even under Snow Leopard) to record every LP to a CD. I make a CD for two reasons: one, I like a backup that is uncompressed. Two, when you import a CD into iTunes you stand a good chance of having it correctly recognize and label your tracks for you. So, open Toast. Select Audio...

I do a lot of transfers from LP, and here is how I do it. I usually record a whole side of a record to one file. Then I save it to disk as an AIFF format file. I process it through ClickRepair, with settings Declick 30, Decrackle off, Automatic. Then I open up the cleaned up file in AP. First I set ...

Support for 24 bit recording in Amadeus Pro?
Hi Martin, I have an Early 2011 MacBook Pro, which according to System Profiler has Intel High Definition Audio chipset. According to what I find on the internet the Intel HDA system is capable of high sampling rates and larger than 16 bit data resolution. When I look in Preferences of Amadeus Pro I...

You're right
Martin, you're right about the OS... I have a Powerbook G4, and thus I'm still running 10.5.8 Leopard. I do use Spaces quite a bit, though, and I have not encountered this issue in any other situations. As I said, though, I do have a work-around; I just make it visible in every virtual desktop. I th...

Bug in the way Amadeus Pro interacts with Spaces?
Hi, I just wanted to mention that the program is very good, but the one problem I have with it has to do with the Mac OS X "Spaces" feature. Recall that Spaces allows you to have virtual desktops dedicated to different programs (set up in System Preferences under Spaces and Expose). Amadeu...
