Setting AIFF compression?
Still confused why the individual files are so large? I mean if I take one of these extracted AIFF files and just open it in Amadeus Pro and save it, it gets cut done in size by about 40% Two possibilities: Large metadata in the files of some sort, or you are opening a 24-bit AIFF file and saving i...

normalizing causes distortion
after normalizing about 3 hours worth of 3 to 10 minute files for work (using the RMS algorithm normalizing to 85%), I discovered that this wretched program allows the waveform to become distorted instead of doing what normalizing is supposed to do and find the loudest part of the track and bring t...

Saving modified mp3 file - quality question
To follow up: does it re-encode while splitting according to markers? It always re-encodes. It's an audio editor, not an MP3 editor. -- Robert _______________________________________________ Amadeus forum mailing list Unsubscribe / change settings at http://two.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/forum_l...

Batchconversion Apple Lossless 2 AAC VBR
AAC is VBR capable. You can encode in AAC VBR from iTunes. You are so right. I didn't know and I shouldn't have spoken out of ignorance. Thanks for the correction. -- Robert _______________________________________________ Amadeus forum mailing list Unsubscribe / change settings at http://two.pairli...

Batchconvrsion Apple Lossless 2 AAC VBR
Hi, I bought Amadeus recently to convert my Audiobooks from a lossless Format (FLAC or Apple Lossless) to a AAC Format. Because Audiobooks (especially unabrighted ones) are somewhat big, I prefer encosing them in VBR Formats. Speech has a lot of silence and VBR encoding is very efficient with Audio...

...next question-removing vinyl groove noise
Has anyone come up with a good method for removing or reducing groove noise from vinyl records? I have a bunch of Chopin nocturnes with some very quiet passages; the signal to noise ratio is very low. I have tried a variety of methods, but the pulsating nature of the noise results in a pulsating si...

feedback noise
Wow helemaal vanuit Nederland! I find the closer I zoom in on it the faster the cursor goes by and it's very frustrating to pinpoint the exact location. I'll try anything to get that squeel out or reduced. Welbedankt. How long does it last, exactly? Tell us a number of milliseconds. If it really go...

Enhancement suggestions: peak meter; insert file
Digital sound being non-hissy, it responds perfectly to increases in signal level; in other words, one can boost signal without concern of boosting hiss, or other input noise. Thus, one can record at a relatively very low level, in other words a level that you are virtually certain will not clip an...

odd results merging mp3 files
As a quick aside, VBR seems like it might also complicate things. Does the bit rate get stored in the frame header (allowing each frame to say how it should be read), or is there a "I'm VBR" flag stored in the file header somewhere? Decoders vary in their ability to deal with MP3 VBR, alt...

odd results merging mp3 files
There's no reason why doing that should work. You got lucky and had an MP3 player that was willing to play the resulting invalid MP3 file. But enough invalidity, and no player is going to play it. Actually, I found a couple of MP3 forums that stated MP3 was designed so that could work. They said th...

Then I used cat to put them together. I've done it when ripping a number of other audio books, but this time when I put the tracks together into chapters, the resulting files are flipping out things trying to read them. There's no reason why doing that should work. You got lucky and had an MP3 play...

Désolé; je me suis inscrit mais je n'avais pas compris que la langue française n'était pas autorisée. I'm sure you're *allowed* to speak French here, but the problem is that few others do. :-( Certainement la langue française est autorisée, mais la problememe est que vous avez peu de gens ic...

Any way to remove "tunnel" sound?
A CD given to me to digitize was recorded with an intense tunnel sound, (not really an echo sound), for the first half of the CD. Is there a way to fix that with Amadeus Pro? I've tried all that I can think of. You won't be able to get rid of the problem completely, but you might make some headway ...

If there's a way to get sampled sounds to follow the pitch and rhythms of a recorded voice, that might work well, but I doubt it's possible and I have no idea how to do that. That's why I was thinking about effects and filters. I don't think you can do what you want strictly with effects and filter...

I'm interested in the musicality of the human voice. Normally, it's hard to study because one gets distracted by the meanings of the words. That part sounds easy. There are hundreds of languages spoken in the world today. Just pick one that you don't understand at all, and get some recorded materia...
